200 000 visitors for this very successful exhibition held in Paris (the most successful of all exhibitions showed at Paris Philharmonie & music museum). It will travel through Europe in 2026 and 2027 (Amsterdam, Antwerpen…)
Born in the United States in the early 1970s, disco music quickly became a global phenomenon. Contrary to clichés, this exhibition does justice to the dynamism of this music, which is deeply rooted in Black American history and culture and is the heir to soul, gospel, and funk.
A collection of audiovisual archives, photographs, instruments, costumes, design objects, and works of art highlights the political and festive dimension of this music, which brought different minorities and social classes together on the dance floor, united in a shared spirit of hedonism. Accompanied by a soundtrack mixed by Dimitri from Paris, the exhibition emphasizes the aesthetic appeal that disco had for artists and designers.
